The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC), the largest regional medical device association in the U.S., is asking why to choose medtech as a career option. Its “Why Medtech” campaign, which was launched in 2022, is building awareness of the industry through positive stories from those who have been impacted by medical devices or why they chose to work in the field.
Brian Johnson, president of MassMEDIC, told MD+DI the campaign was created to respond to what’s seen as an ongoing problem in the industry – low awareness. This leads to a misunderstanding about the industry as a place to develop a career. MassMEDIC is working with the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center to build a one-stop shop that connects the medtech community in the state, including job seekers with open roles.
