According to Medical Design and Outsourcing’s 2023 Medtech Big 100, the world’s largest medical device companies have headquarters locations spanning 15 countries and four continents. The U.S. leads with 55 medtech companies, while California includes 18 companies alone. Massachusetts checks in with five Medtech Big 100 companies centering around Boston. Medtronic, the world’s largest medical device company, lists Dublin, Ireland as its official headquarters but the company’s operational headquarters is in Minnesota, along with 3M.
Japan with 15 companies, Germany with six, Switzerland with five and Denmark with five are all prominent countries for medical device manufacturing.
